The concept of watching it too aggressively doesn't really apply. There's no concept of using a mini LED carelessly, unless you, like, physically destroy the TV itself. I find it difficult to describe it as carelessness when it's not a consideration that necessarily has to be made with other kind of TVs. It's like a community reinforcing its own recommendations to itself to a point where no one is approaching the topic holistically.īurn in or at least long term IR will happen if you’re careless and have heavy fixed image use. It's a meme that is incredibly prevalent across the entire home theater space, and it's very bogus. The hype where people pretend like they are the absolute best ever, needs to die. It's not like they're bad, they just have their pros and cons. It ultimately leaves me feeling like I need to be "gentle" with my TV and carefully consider how I use it and how much I'm doing a certain thing on it. The pixels are always in a slow state of decay. A static image displayed for 8 hours in 1 day is the same as an image displayed for 1 hour over 8 days. I guess what people mean is "the rate of burn-in is being mitigated so well that it's probably mostly imperceptible during the time that you actually own the TV", which I will never fully buy into. It's not "fixed now" because it'll never be fixed. I’m not a gamer and I take care to avoid burn-in. I’ll just need to replace the set in 5 years. ![]() If LG is worried about it you certainly have a right to also.Īs for myself, I just consider it a part of owning an OLED set. That is because they are still worried about burn-in. Even LG recommends that if you have a picture on the screen that has black bars you should increase the picture size until it fills the screen. There is really no way to know that until these sets are a few years older. People keep saying that there is little reason to worry about it with newer sets. They can click the button but can’t use a few words to explain why.Ĭoncerning burn-in. It’s just how some people are here, sadly. I don’t think you should be down voted for asking a question or two. Others are free to disagree and I’m fine with that. I love it and don’t think there is anything else that looks as good. It wasn't mentioned in the video at all but was updated to appear in the article Vs this new update from a firmware from samsung that automatically uses a large compensation cycle after 2k hours that is apparently very good at reducing burn in. You're confusing the previous update about them switching around the compensation cycles to see if that was the cause of the burn in imbalance. The CNN text is actually less visible on the s95b now vs the C2 OLED The prevalance of the burn in is greatly reduced and its visibility is only slightly worse than with the c2. The bars and CNN text are much darker and more noticable than on the C2. You can clearly read the letters CNN and the bars are showijg burn in. The sony woleds have the worst burn in by far though,Ĭ2 burn in on gray. So it looks like QD oled really isnt that much worse for burn in than WOLED. /r/AverageJoeAudiophile for Two Channel Audio - DAC's Turntables, etc.Īfter the update the LG C2 and s95b are showing similar signs of burn in. ![]()
